Hands-on training in the preparation of several strawberry-based products

The department has successfully conducted a Strawberry Festival on 20th May, 2026. The objective was to promote value addition and post-harvest utilization of locally grown strawberries and enhance the shelf life of locally grown strawberries. During the program, students received hands-on training in the preparation of several strawberry-based products, which include strawberry jam, squash, ice cream, cakes, and cookies.



The Department of Food Science and Technology successfully conducted a Strawberry Festival on 20th May, 2026. The event aimed to promote value addition and post-harvest utilization of locally grown strawberries, along with enhancing their shelf life.

During the programme, students received hands-on training in the preparation of various strawberry-based products such as:

  • Strawberry Jam
  • Squash
  • Ice Cream
  • Cakes
  • Cookies

The training also included practical exposure to product marketing, enabling students to understand real-world applications of food processing and entrepreneurship.

The event proved to be highly beneficial in encouraging innovation, skill development, and awareness regarding the effective utilization of local agricultural produce.
